Ken’s Birthday!

My brother turns an amazing 26!

Back from my break

Hey all, sorry for the break from blogging. I had a pretty crazy Christmas break thusfar and haven’t really gotten around to writing about it or putting up any pictures.

I went to watch the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe on the 23rd with my boyfriend before we headed downtown to Andi’s surprise Christmas party. The movie was fantastic, and A even liked it, which is awesome because he doesn’t like the Harry Potter movies that I demand we watch. I cannot believe the amount of people who showed up to dinner! It was so much fun catching with all the Abbey girls again! In attendance were: Andi, Jen, Kareen, Anna K, Anna P, Terry, Faye and Joey.

Christmas eve was spent with family, as is the tradition. We had a delicious meal with roast beef, and by the time I got to A’s, I couldn’t eat any of the mussels he had saved for me because I was FULL, not because I was sick of mussels (EDUARDO!).

Christmas day til today was spent with A and his family in Niagara Falls on a trip with a bunch of his parents’ friends. Oosh (Mariusz) was also on the trip too with his girlfriend and her family, so it was kinda cool bumping into them. I also went shopping at the Niagara outlet (Canada One) since my Christmas gift from A was a paid-for shopping experience. I was nice enough not to spend all his money :)

And tomorrow will be a relaxing day with family. Thursday I have a cavity to fill and a dinner to attend, and Friday is the birthday dinner for my dear brother. Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.

Oh, and I stole this from tinlok: Google Video is awesome

This event is quite self-explanitory…

I like how we don’t grow up

Tonight I went to Ken’s for a fabulous potluck dinner. Tomorrow there will be pictures to show, but it’s late and I’m very sleepy. I ate an awful lot of… everything.

Although lots of laughs were had tonight, my memory sucks and very few conversations are sticking at the moment. Hopefully Steph will have some good quotes up soon. In the meantime:

jen: I found the used condom in the toilet
laine: nooo! think of the whales!
matt: because the condom will suffocate the whale
ivano: and it’ll impregnate all the fishes
chris: that’s where merpeople come from

There was also this one:

steph: I once dated someone who would always write me poetry quoting only backstreet boys songs. And then I told him he should expand his musical tastes and so he –
chris: and so he wrote a poem telling you to quit playing games with his heart?

All in all, a very wonderful night filled with good stories, good food and always good friends. I’m glad we hold these events every year. Pictures will be up very soon!

There’s no place like home

So I woke up this morning to find the house empty, and a note ontop of my laptop in the kitchen:

The note says:
“Daddy and mommy went to the bank to transfer money to me for tuition, then we’ll go for lunch (I think that’s dimsum). Chinchilla has not been fed or had his water changed, please do it. Dad (aka “Dod”)”

I laughed so loud when I saw this. My dad is so cute!

Love love love

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find love love love
Listen to the music of the moment maybe sing with me
I like one big family
It’s your God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love love

So i won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I’m sure
There’s no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I’m yours

What an awesome song! And it’s all thanks to Wong Fu Productions‘ “I’m Yours” video (it’s absolutely adorable! Go watch Go watch!)

Today is the anniversary of my parents’ wedding. I’m so happy that I got to spend it with them, listening to their stories about all the things I missed while I was in Waterloo and laughing with them. My parents are the bestest, I’m thankful everyday for the love they have for me and my brother and for each other.

And another thing:

Christmas break is jam packed with… stuff. I hope you all are having a super holiday!

Countdown to DOOM

I think it’s safer if I sleep a little earlier tonight, and I still have a lot to study, so quick food report:

I had a granola bar for breakfast, my can of soup for lunch, and a chicken breast for dinner. I also remembered that I have soy beans in my freezer. This leaves me with one frozen chicken breast, one granola bar, stale tostitos, pasta sauce and weird yam noodle things, and my half a bag of soy beans (which will probably be gone by the end of the night).

It’s starting to get tricky and I’m hoping that everyone will go out for dinner after the exam tomorrow so I won’t have to worry about food. Ergh.

And on another note: Databases is CONFUSING. It’s just like ACTSC, one of the courses that I wanted to love but it just wouldn’t let me. Damn you!
