Moving on

So in the middle of the night, I decided it was time to change the website. It’s been a good run with this layout (two plus years?) but I think it’s about time to got a new look.

So after the midterm and the assignment, and the midterm after that, … uh, and the assignment after that, I’ll look into designing something new. Be prepared to give feedback!

That, and I’m looking to see if I can move this to some sort of… hosting with a database. I’m just reluctant to pay the $8 a month for it (at least, at the moment because school is so costly). We’ll see, we’ll see. I’m 99% done studying now. And I’m hungry.

Wish me luck people!

Study Music?

As I posted two entries below, a lot of the calming music I like to listen to on a regular basis puts me to sleep when I study. Which is sad, because they’re so fun. And so now I’m looking for some music to keep me awake and happy.

I’m currently really happy with:
Bowling for Soup – A Hangover You Don’t Deserve
I don’t know if they had any new singles since their nostalgic hit “1985″, but I’m glad a lot of these songs aren’t singles, because overplaying them would probably make me hate them (much like Gwen’s “What You Waiting For”). A few good songs to note on this album are “Almost”, “Ohio”, and “My Hometown”.

Fountains of Wayne – Welcome Interstate Managers
Again, I was drawn to this album because of their hit “Stacy’s Mom” (those who haven’t heard it are missing out on one the best three minutes of of aural hilarility in their life!). Strangely enough, I only tested out the album after hearing “Hey Julie” on the radio and was amazed that it was the same band. Which just goes to show how talented these guys are. Other songs to note are “Mexican Wine” and “Peace and Love”.

The Bloodhound Gang – Hefty Fine
Don’t be turned away by the album cover (I know I cringed when I saw it). The album itself is quite good, a long move away from their “Fire Water Burn” single. They’ve still got an interesting edge to them, as shown in the single “Foxtrot Unicorn Charlie Kilo”. Other fun songs include “Ralph Wiggum”, and “I’m The Least You Could Do”. Please note that a lot of these songs will probably get disapproving glares from adults.

Jason Mraz – Mr. A – Z
I thought this album would be good to mention as well, even though some of the songs make me sleepy. I’ve always liked his singing style (as described in the single “Wordplay”), so paying attention to his lyrics might make you more awake? But I just had to say that I really like the song “Life Is Wonderful”.

So this is a pretty long and pointless post. I just wanted to see if anyone could offer some “stay awake study music” for me. That, and I’m super procrastinating (glances as the post below). Yeeeeah. I’ll go study now.

so johnny started playing this new game, and A would love to play it (if only his computer was… not so old). and after complaining that the website is too scary for me to navigate around, johnny sent me this:penny arcade always makes things better

one day left before the midterm. of DOOM.

save me!

Who’s heard of the movie Saved!? I never heard about it until five minutes ago when I was in the common room cooking some soup and a floor mate was watching it for her Jesus class. From what I caught on, it’s a hilarious comedy about growing up in a Christian highschool. I say, go watch the trailer, it’s absolutely hilarious. The scene I walked in on was where one girl was trying to convince another about Jesus’ love, and girl two replies “you don’t know the first thing about love”. And as she’s walking away, girl one, in a fit of rage, throws a bible at girl two and screams “I am FILLED with Christ’s love!!!” Plus, the cast is quite interesting too: Mandy Moore, Macaulay Culkin, Jena Malone, and Patrick Fugit (of Almost Famous fame).

that’s all I really have to report. I’m currently studying for my CS 454 midterm, and listening to Simple Plan to stay awake. The following albums put me to sleep:
Jason Mraz – Mr. A-Z
Michael Buble – It’s Time
Westlife – Allow us to be Frank
Jack Johnson – In Between Dreams

so yesterday I come back from my night class to a message from lisa on my msn:
lis * =) ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit: i nominate you as a cow.
lis * =) ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit ribbit: now MOO damn u MOO

at first I did the usual… “what the heck is going on around here?” but as I looked on my msn list, I saw:
MC – woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof

that’s when I realised that we might as well be doing some stupid stuff to celebrate the crazy week we just had. so I went and changed my msn name:
tetleytee: moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo moo
and messaged up min.
tee: so you’re a dog eh?
min: cow?
min: I’m happy with the dog.
tee: I like moo cows. so I’m content
min: ah, Lis makes us do such stupid things
tee: and we don’t even question. it’s sooooo weird.
min: leader of the fools.

and for the record, I didn’t steal jon’s animal noise!

tee: but… but why would lisa make us BOTH cows??? :(
jon: I dunno, that’s bad animal noise management

I’d also like to add that elton and I always have hilarious conversations when stupid stuff happens.

tee: I dunno if this counts, but what animal goes “awooo”??!?!?
elton: a wolf
tee: hahaa, wolves don’t eat cows! they eat sheep. wess better watch out!
elton: awooo?
elton: yeah no cows
elton: too fattening
tee: *shocked*
tee: oh no you didn’t!!! moooooooooo!!!!!
elton: hahahaha wess is dead when he gets online
elton: gonna flood him with howl

tee: … uh, what’s andrew?
elton: haha what the hell is he
tee: he was… an owl this morning. I have no clue what he is now
elton: it must be something weird
elton: like a sasquach or something

what a way to start off in the morning. I woke up around down from a stressful sleep. I had drempt that I woke up at 8am like I set the alarm for to prep for my interview, but somehow time flew by and it was suddenly 11:30am and I was still in my PJs! When I suddenly realised the time, I flipped out and started changing and it was like my body wasn’t listening to my brain! I kept throwing on sweatshirts and khakis or shorts and polo shirts. All the while I was trying to think of a good excuse to use, but my brain kept drawing a blank.

By the time I was finally in Interview-decent clothes, it was 12:44! I could picture the interviewers already, sitting in their room wondering where the heck I was. One person would say to the other “well, I guess she doesn’t want the job…”

But as I was all set to run out the door, my brother comes into my room and tells me to forget it because the interviewers had started interviewing the next applicant.

I think around there I woke up all of a suddenly, and it took me a while to realise what time it really was (530am).

if only life were as easy as you

I think that’s one of the most hilarious lines ever. bloodhound gang put one a stellar album. they also have a song made entirely of Ralph Wiggum quotes! but for those who aren’t into bloodhound gang, Michael Buble’s album It’s Time is quite amazing too. It makes you want to listen to old jazzy tunes all day.

nerds unite!

I’m one of the select few who got chosen to attend a talk with Bill Gates tomorow evening at the University of Waterloo. another person who’s visiting U of W tomorrow is the lesser known Frankie Tsang of PA fame, who will hopefully be getting trashed at Fed (I’d like to see Bill Gates party it up at fed!) which means I have very little time to finish this db assignment :(

I’m a pop singsation!

I hope everyone had a fabulous thanksgiving weekend. We had the family over for our thanksgiving meal, and my parents made turkey, lamb, veggies, and I made mashed potatoes, and my aunt made pasta salad and we had three different kinds of cakes for dessert. I’m eating crazy leftovers this week! :) My mommy makes awesome gravy!

back to work I go. I’ll let you all know how my “take tourist pictures with bill gates” project goes. ;)

be safe!

a few thoughts

–amazing race S08E03 spoiler–
so I finally watched the latest amazing race episode, where the rogers family lost. and let me tell you something, I cannot stand a family that doesn’t respect its family. that Paolo family drives me bonkers. kids that shout at their mother for speaking her mind are absolutely rotten. I hope they realise how bad they look on camera, and how disrespectful they’re acting.

and the Rogers family that lost? I totally feel for the son. everyone was so quick to pounce on him without listening, no one stuck up for him, everyone said it was his mistake, and no one ever said “sorry”. the father said “it’s my mistake”, but that’s not the same thing because it’s a general statement and not a direct apology to a person. what really made me angry is that during the detour when they had originally chosen to carry the five soldiers, but after the first one the mom said “I can’t do it”, so the father and daughter just dropped everything and ran to the lanterns. no one stopped to question her and give her a hard time. I respect the Paolo mom and the Gaghan dad for pushing through even when they thought they couldn’t do it and not giving up. the poor Rogers son.

the comforts of home

I’m back in TO for the wknd, so I’m enjoying the highspeed internet and the comfy bed and the clean clean bathroom. and the rediculous amounts of food. I love home. yesterday I told my parents I wanted fish, so we went to a chinese restaurant and I had delicious delicious fish and tung choi. today we went for dimsum because ken was busy (which means tomorrow we’ll go for sushi!), and tomorrow night we’re having a super thanksgiving meal with turkey and lamb and I’m making mashed potatoes (and cake? I can’t remember what I promised…)

cheap groceries!

on a side note, those who bake easy cakes should go to no frills, duncan hines cake mix is 97 cents, and so is their frosting! mmm!!

I still have homework to do while home. :( back to work I go! happy thanksgiving people!!!!

oh I almost forgot! happy birthday to: Rendy, Jamie, Kel, Gary, Vannie! (those aren’t in order, I know) I hope you guys are all out partying to the max! xoxoxo!

it is a dark day for get smart fans all around the world. *cries*

CNN.com – Don Adams of ‘Get Smart’ dead – Sep 26, 2005

the worst kind of tv junkie

is the kind that doesn’t know what time and days the shows are on. and that would be me. I’m an idiot.

so thanks to the quick eyes of phil, gg isn’t on wednesdays anymore. an updated schedule goes as follows:
monday – prison break
tuesday – amazing race, gilmore girls
wednesday – martha stewart: apprentice, csi
thursday – apprentice
friday – numb3rs
saturday –
sunday – simpsons, family guy

shows that I want to get into but am afraid I’m just too far behind:
corner gas, nip tuck, … uh, i can’t think of anymore.

I have a lot of food so I’m desperately trying to cook it all. I’ve made a lot of minced pork and diced veggies, and pasghetti loaded with all the veggies i have, and today I’m making french toast. a whole whack of it, cuz I have to eat that loaf of bread. I even bought nutella for the occassion… and I suddenly am beginning to think that’s a little backwards, cuz now I have to finish the nutella. dammit!

work count: 2 assignments due next week and a midterm on tuesday. what the heck!
